I by no means promise one of these for each day of the convention, but since i have the room to myself and i’ve done most of my other “chores” i thought i’d write up the day.

Andy and i flew out of SeaTac last night around 11:30.  He took the day off and manfully charged thru’ chores around the house and city to get the house prepared for our trip.  I got off work at 2pm and womanfully charged thru’ my remaining chores to get myself ready for the con and, especially, for the stuff (zine outing, Gathering table, class zine, class panel) i’m doing.

We arrived at the Madison airport around — i don’t know, 9:30-ish?  I guess i wasn’t looking at the clock.  I was more than a little tired.  Yet despite that tiredness i and Andy managed to spend the day walking around State Street with Jess and johanna.  Bruch at Sunroom, book purchased at Community Pharmacy (City Herbal, which i’d thought about getting last year but decided to wait), book purchased at Rainbow Collective (Fresh Food from Small Spaces, which i’d thought about getting out home but decided to get here to support an awesome independent bookstore).  And at A Room of One’s Own — we met Gretchen!  Who was so startled when johanna recognized her that she nearly dropped the stack of books she was shelving.

Back at the hotel, when packet stuffing didn’t really need any help Jess and i came back to the room for some crash time.  When johanna and Andy rejoined us, it was off to supper at Noodles and Company — i’d been craving their stroganoff (sans beef) noodles for months.  Afterward, bought squishable camping shot glasses (god, how bourgeois am i??), but no flask, at Fontana Sports.

Back to the hotel room to drop off stuff, then out to buy liquor, because while i enjoy struggling thru’ the 6th floor parties on the weekend, i don’t drink beer which leaves me horrifingly non-tipsy.  So, to put into my new squishable camping shot glasses, i bought a really nice port (Warre’s vintage port).

Then Jess, johanna, and Andy went off for karaoke, hence i have the room to myself.  Tidied the bed so we can sleep in it tonight.  Jotted down my schedule for the green room.  Tomorrow, in around all the zine stuff we have going on, i’ll have to find time to look over the schedule and mark which panels i’m interested in.

And, no, i’m putting off thinking about my own panel for now.  The port’s helping.
